 ESSAY CONTEST FOR YOUTH SHOOTING SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS
The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA), Legacy Sports International, and Northwoods Adventures TV invite high school students from across the nation to write an original essay of less than 1,000 words that describes “The Importance of Shooting Sports to my Family.”
The contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve attending public, private, parochial, or home schools.
All essays will be judged on the following criteria:
Presentation of the opportunities that shooting sports can provide in promoting family interaction
Description of the role that shooting sports has played in the personal growth and development of the essayist.
All essays are expected to be written in a compelling and original manner; communicate ideas clearly; and use correct syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Essays must be the original work of the student. Only one (1) entry per entrant will be accepted. Second and subsequent entries submitted by the same entrant will be discarded.
Two winners will be notified by mail and via telephone and announced on the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance website www.youthshootingsa.com. Each winning essayist will participate in a 5-day South Carolina Deer Hunt in October, 2008 hosted by Lucky B’s Farm (www.luckybs.com) in Hemingway, SC. The hunter can shoot one buck and a doe.
All hunts will be filmed by Northwoods Adventures TV (www.northwoodsoutdoorstv.com) staff and aired nationally on The Sportsman Channel.
Meals, lodging and travel for the winners and one accompanying non-hunting parent or guardian will be provided.
All entries must be postmarked or received by June 1, 2008. The YSSA assumes no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, returned, non-deliverable or illegible entries.
By entering, each entrant warrants that he/she fully and unconditionally agrees to accepts the rules for this contest and the decision of YSSA which is final and binding. The entrant also agrees that his/her essay will become the property of the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance and will not be returned. The YSSA reserves the right to print and display the essays and photograph contest winners for promotion purposes.
All winners and their accompanying adult will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a publicity release (except where prohibited), and a liability release within fourteen (14) days of notification. Failure to return these documents will result in disqualification from winning or otherwise participating in any manner.
